"Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which
is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto
a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth
out of his treasure things new and old." (Matthew
13:52 KJV)
In this passage, "every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of
heaven" means "all Christian writers," that is, "all writers who have
personal knowledge of the Holy Spirit." "A householder, which bringeth
forth out of his treasure things new and old" means "a homeowner who
brings out, to use, old things and new things from his storehouse."
The "old things" are the writings we already have, mainly the Scriptures.
The "new things" are new writings, our own new writings. The "treasure" or
"storehouse" is the
unending abundance of the Holy Spirit, Who is the source of both the old
writings and the new.
Since both the old writings and the new are given by the same source, the Holy Spirit, they should be consistent with each other, not contradicting, but allowing for the different circumstances in different times and places.
This passage, Matthew 13:52, provides the Scriptural authority for all Christian writing, and directs that the new should be consistent with the old and together with the old, allowing for the different circumstances in different times and places.
These writings are some of the "pleasant fruits" mentioned in Song Of Solomon 7:13.
" . . . and at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits,
new and old, which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved."
(Song of Solomon 7:13 KJV)
NOTE: It is not necessary for each new writing to have an exact Bible verse to support it, because the Lord has given His people the exact words to suit their particular situations in each place at each time, and His instructions for one situation may be vastly different from His instructions for another situation. It is a great mistake to believe that all teachings in the Bible apply to all of God's people at all times. They clearly do not. In fact the great majority of words in the Bible do not apply to us Christians today at all, because either they apply to prophecies already fulfilled or to people in vastly different curcumstances than we are in today. The New Testament repeals most of the Old Testment laws, and most of the prophecies in both the Old and New Testaments have already been fulfilled. The main reason that God has given us His Holy Spirit to guide us, is to allow us to have His guidance for the situations facing each of us, His people, wherever and whenever we may live. We do not need to sacrifice pigeons for any reason today. Nor do we need to be limited by the words He has given to other people at other times. Each of us is free to receive His guidance personally and directly, as He chooses to give it to us, within the framework of the Golden Rule, which applies to all mankind:

"Treat Others As You Would Like To Be Treated"If He had wanted us to be bound to follow every word in the Bible -- and nothing else -- he would not have given us Matthew 13:52 and the Golden Rule, as shown above.
