Genesis 46:26 Predicts The Bible And Confirms That It Is The
Complete Word Of God
We know that all Scripture comes from God and is sufficient for all our
spiritual needs, based on 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable
for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect (complete),
thoroughly furnished (equipped) unto all good works."
(2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV)
But how do we really know that the Bible contains all the true Scriptures,
no more, no less? Maybe some were left out. Or maybe some were included
which should have been left out. I had wondered about this question for a
long time, but never found an answer. It seemed that Protestants were
making a huge assumption when
they concluded that their particular collection of Scriptures was, in
fact,
the complete word of God.
The answer to this question is found in Genesis, the very first book
of the Bible, written thousands of years before the Bible was completed.
(Is it possible that this answer has been hidden all this time, and just
now revealed?)
Genesis, chapter forty-six, describes the migration of Jacob (Israel)
and his family into Egypt, naming each person. Verse twenty-six
gives a numerical summary.
"All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of
his loins, besides Jacob's sons' wives, all the souls were
threescore and six (sixty-six);" (Genesis 46:26 KJV)
Holy Spirit gave me the understanding of this Scripture earlier this
morning (11-3-98), and it is very simple and clear.
Jacob (Israel) represents God.
These sixty-six people who "came out of his loins" represent the sixty-six
books of the Bible. Their act of moving into Egypt represents God and
His Word, the Bible, moving into the non-Jewish world.
Thus Genesis 46:26 in combination with 2 Timothy 3:16-17, confirms that
the Bible, with
its sixty-six books, is the complete word of God, sufficient for all our
spiritual needs.
