"I believe in Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the orderly
harmony of what exists . . . "
Albert Einstein (details below)
Albert Einstein, perhaps the greatest intellectual of the twentieth
century, believed in God, the Creator, the First Cause of everything that
exists.
Some lesser minds may foolishly
embrace Atheism; but the greatest mind believed in God, the Creator, the
First Cause of everything that exists.
No, Einstein was not a Christian. He was a Jew. In fact, he was offered the Presidency of Israel in 1952, but he declined. Would the Jewish state of Israel have offered its first Presidency to an Atheist?
Neither did Einstein believe in a personal God, who intervenes in human affairs. But he did believe in God as Creator of the Universe. Specifically, Einstein believed in "Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists," as shown below:
"I believe in Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with fates and actions of human beings." Upon being asked if he believed in God by Rabbi Herbert Goldstein of the Institutional Synagogue, New York, April 24, 1921, Einstein: The Life and Times, Ronald W. Clark, Page 502.So then, what did Spinoza believe about God? If Einstein believed what Spinoza believed, then what did Spinoza believe?
Spinoza believed in God, the Creator, the First Cause of everything that exists, as shown below:
Short Treatise on God, Man, and His Well-Being:
Part 1, Chapter 01.
THAT GOD EXISTS
As regards the first, [N1] namely, whether there is a God, this,
we say, can be proved.
_________________________________________________________________
(Then follow his proofs.)
From all this, then, it follows clearly that we can prove both a
priori and a posteriori that God exists. Better, indeed, a priori. For
things which are proved in the latter way [a posteriori] must be
proved through their external causes, which is a manifest imperfection
[N1] in them, inasmuch as they cannot make themselves known [N2]
through themselves, but only through external causes. God, however,
who is the first cause of all things, and also the cause of himself
[causa sui], makes himself known through himself. Hence one need not
attach much importance to the saying of Thomas Aquinas, namely, that
God could not be proved a priori because he, forsooth, has no cause.

Although Albert Einstein did not come to a knowledge of Jesus Christ,
neverthless he had come to recognize God as Creator, just as Spinoza
recognized God as Creator.
