We Are Saved By Faith Alone, Not By Anything Else We May Do

If we believe in Jesus Christ as son of God and accept Him as our Lord, we are saved at that very moment, regardless of anything else we do or do not do.

    
         "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
          begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him 
          should not perish, but have everlasting life."
          (John 3:16 KJV)

This is how the thief on the cross beside Jesus was able to be saved while nailed to his cross, unable to be baptized or to do any good works whatsoever. He believed that Jesus was Son of God, and he accepted Him as his Lord.

               And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest
               into thy kingdom.
        43
               And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day
               shalt thou be with me in paradise.

God invites all people to be saved.


         "Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends
          of the earth: for I am God, and there is none
          else." (Isaiah 45:22 KJV)

The exact procedure is spelled out in Romans 10:9. If you declare out loud that Jesus Christ is your Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

       
      "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and
       shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the
       dead, thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9 KJV)

But what about people who are very good, who do wonderful things, but do not accept Jesus as their Lord?

Not good enough . . .

          "For all have sinned, and come short of the
           glory of God;" (Romans 3:23 KJV)

There is only one way to be saved, and that is by faith in Jesus Christ.


            "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth,
             and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but
             by me." (John 14:6 KJV)
