The easiest way out of temptation is to avoid it altogether. Stay away from it. Cut off any connection you have to temptation. Stop seeing people who tempt you. Stop going to places where you may be tempted. Stop doing things which tend to draw you into temptation.
As Jesus says . . .
"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:"
(Matthew 6:13a KJV)
"Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit
indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." (Matthew 26:41 KJV)
Making the point very dramatically, He says . . .
"And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast
it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of
thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body
should be cast into hell." (Matthew 5:29 KJV)
"And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it
from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy
members should perish, and not that thy whole body should
be cast into hell." (Matthew 5:30 KJV)
But if you find yourself in the midst of temptation, recognize that
this temptation is nothing new. It is common to mankind, and the Lord
will always provide a way to escape.
"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man:
but God is faithful, who will not suffer (permit) you to be
tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation
also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
(1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV)
Nobody needs to fall into sin because of temptation, because God always
makes
a way to escape! So look for that way of escape, and take it! When you
do, you will be rewarded . . .
"Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried,
he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised
to them that love him." (James 1:12 KJV)
