A Ceremony Of Submission To The Lord

Scriptural Authority For This Ceremony

"Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old." - Matthew 13:52 (KJV)

NOTE: Matthew 13:52 provides scriptural authority for this ceremony. I am a scribe (writer) "instructed unto the kingdom of heaven," and this ceremony is a "new thing" from my treasure.

The Ceremony, Itself

   This is a ceremony which the Lord has given me to share
   with you. By this ceremony, we give ourselves to the
   Lord, for His use alone.

   This ceremony is similar to the ceremonies for Baptism
   and Holy Communion, except that you perform this one
   yourself, in private with God alone.

   By this ceremony, of your own free will you give your
   permission for the Lord to control you totally and
   completely. If you do not want to give Him this permission,
   then do not perform this ceremony.

   First, you take a standard 3X5" file card or equivalent,
   and you draw a key, like a house key or a car key, on it.
   This key should be about the same size as a regular key.
   The shape of this key is for you to determine, at your own
   discretion. It is the key to you, so you get to decide what
   its shape should be.

   At the top of the file card, above your drawing of your key,
   write "This is the key to myself." Below the drawing of your
   key, write "I give this key to Jesus Christ alone." Then sign
   your full legal name at the bottom of the card, and write
   today's date.

   Then say this prayer.
   
      O Lord and God Who hath created me,
      I dedicate and give myself to You.
      I do confess that Jesus Christ is Lord;
      I do believe You raised Him from the dead.

      Great Three in One, Great One in Three, my Lord:
      Great Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, my Lord:
      I give myself as bride to You alone.
      To You alone I grant control of me.

      And as a symbol of my love for You,
      I give to You this key which I have drawn.
      This key is to myself, whom You have made;
      It now is Yours, so use me as You will.

      In Jesus' holy name I pray, Amen.

   You should now take your file card, and store it in a safe
   place. You may repeat this ceremony as needed, using the
   same file card again. Each time you repeat it, you re-affirm
   your submission to the Lord.
