First Compassion, Then Action 

NOTE: When you read this prayer, try to imagine hearing my voice as I speak
it to you.  In this way, the prayer is reactivated, and it is the same
as if I were actually praying for you at that moment.
(Just like television prayers are reactivated when you watch 
them, although the videotape may have been shot years before.)






               You saw it as it happened on the highway:
               She swerved as he was turning in her path,
               And in a moment they had crashed together:
               Crumpled metal, bodies in the snow.

                    *           *           *

               I pray the Lord will guide you in this crisis,
               And help you do the things that must be done.
               I pray that first He fills you with compassion,
               And then He clears your mind and helps you act.
               I pray He guides your hands to give assistance,
               And render all the help that you can give.
               I pray you are successful in your efforts,
               For as you give, so shall you then receive.
                Amen.
