To Quit Complaining

NOTE: When you read this prayer, try to imagine hearing my voice as I speak
it to you.  In this way, the prayer is reactivated, and it is the same
as if I were actually praying for you at that moment.
(Just like television prayers are reactivated when you watch 
them, although the videotape may have been shot years before.)

                Perhaps this won't apply to you at all,
                Or maybe just a little bit, sometimes,
                But many people fall into the trap
                Of grumbling and complaining all the time:
                "My job's no good; my wife: too fat;
                My house: too small; my car won't run."

                     *            *           *

                The Lord gets weary of this constant noise,
                And wearily, He pulls Himself away
                To go and find more pleasant company,
                Where He will hear more gratitude and praise.
                     
                I pray that you will recognize this fault,
                And do your best to change it for the Lord.
                I pray that you acknowledge all the gifts
                And blessings He has given in your life.
                I pray that you are grateful for them all.
                I pray that you more often praise the Lord,
                And cease your criticism of your world.
                If you need help, then ask: you will receive.
                But do not keep complaining all the time.
                The Lord wants happy children in His life!
                In Jesus' name I pray for you, Amen.
