You Sometimes Need To Sacrifice Yourself 

NOTE: When you read this prayer, try to imagine hearing my voice as I speak
it to you.  In this way, the prayer is reactivated, and it is the same
as if I were actually praying for you at that moment.
(Just like television prayers are reactivated when you watch 
them, although the videotape may have been shot years before.)





    On Good Friday: "You Sometimes Need To Sacrifice Yourself"
        
                  This teaching is the hardest one of all,
                  Because it goes against our love of self,
                  And it demands the greatest price by far.
                  By His example, it is shown to us:
                  "You sometimes need to sacrifice yourself.
                  Sometimes there really is no other way."  
             
                       *            *           *

                  And on this day when He hung on the cross,
                  Enduring cruel pain beyond belief,
                  To save us from the fate that we deserve,
                  I pray that we are grateful for His love,
                  And that we seize the gift of life He gave,
                  And that by His example we are led.
                  In Jesus' name I pray for us, Amen.
