"If you believe in Jesus Christ, you are a Christian."
The Universal Church Of Christ is the all-inclusive body of Christian believers, regardless of the details of their doctrine or the degree of their saintliness.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have everlasting
life." (John 3:16 KJV)
"Believing in Him" means not just believing the fact that He is Son of
God, risen from the dead (which Satan and the other unclean spirits
also
believe), but also relying on Him and trusting in Him
as Saviour.
Thus, the Universal Church Of Christ is made up of "whosoever believeth."
The Universal Church Of Christ has no one earthly organization and no one earthly leader. Jesus Christ, Himself, is its only Head. All of us who believe in Him are its body, the Body Of Christ. He lives in each of us and guides us as He chooses, in accordance with His promise, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:" (John 10:27 KJV)
No single organization should ever claim to be "the only true Church," because Jesus clearly says, "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd." (John 10:16 KJV) The "one fold" is the universal church of Christ, and the "one shepherd" is Jesus Christ, Himself, not any earthly man.
Catholics, Methodists, Evangelicals, Pentecostals, Mormons, unaffiliated individual Christians, Seventh Day Adventists, Episcopalians, Baptists, Greek Orthodox . . . (etc.) are all members of Christ's Universal Church, regardless of any errors or differences in their doctrine. "If you believe in Jesus Christ, you are a Christian."
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt believe in
thine heart that God hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt be saved."
(Romans 10:9 KJV)
Differences in doctrine and belief among Christians are part of God's plan for us at this time, "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." (1 Corinthians 13:12 KJV)
Many Christians are deep in sin, but they are Christians, nevertheless, if they believe in the risen Christ as Son of God, their personal Saviour. Whatever sin you may have as a Christian, the Lord can take it away if you repent of it and ask His forgiveness. Unrepentant sinners who are aware of their sin may still be Christians, but it is impossible for them to be very close to the Lord as long as their sin remains unrepented and unforgiven. Thus they are deprived of the main benefit of being a Christian: a close, loving, personal relationship with the Creator of the Universe.
Blessings to you in Jesus Christ our Lord, Head of The Universal Church Of Christ.
