FAIREST LORD JESUS - Anonymous, from Munster Gesangbuch, translated by
Joseph A. Seiss - Public Domain
Fairest Lord Jesus,
Ruler of all nature,
O Thou of God and man the Son:
Thee will I cherish,
Thee will I honor,
Thou my soul's glory, joy, and crown.
Fair are the meadows,
Fairer still the woodlands,
Robed in the blooming garb of spring.
Jesus is fairer,
Jesus is purer,
Who makes the woeful heart to sing.
Fair is the sunshine,
Fairer still the moonlight,
And all the twinkling starry host.
Jesus shines brighter,
Jesus shines purer,
Than all the angels heaven can boast.
Amen.
O Lord, we come together in Your name,If you are a new Christian, we invite you to visit our page at http://www.internetchurchofchrist.org/newchristian.html

And share with us Your presence, openly,FOR YOU ARE EVERYTHING THAT WE DESIRE,
AND EVERYTHING WE HAVE, WE GIVE TO YOU.In Jesus' holy name we pray, Amen.
The Lord, Himself, taught us to pray like this . . .
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

The Apostles' Creed
This historic affirmation of faith comes to us from the early
centuries of the Christian church.
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost;
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended into hell;
The third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven
And sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
The holy catholic church; *
The communion of saints;
The forgiveness of sins;
The resurrection of the body;
And the life everlasting.
Amen.
* Note: "catholic church" here means the entire body of
believers in Christ, not just one particular church.
"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but
Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I
live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave
himself for me." (Galatians 2:20 KJV)
Romans 8:11 (KJV)
"But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the
dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead
shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that
dwelleth in you."
Romans 8:9 (KJV)
"But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be
that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have
not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."
1 Corinthians 3:16 (KJV)
"Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the
Spirit of God dwelleth in you?"
John 14:17 (KJV)
"Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive,
because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know
him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you."
(John 14:17 KJV)
Ephesians 3:17a (KJV)
"That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith;"
1 Corinthians 6:19 (KJV)
"What? know ye not that your body is the
temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,
which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?"
If you are not yet a Christian, Jesus wants to come and live in you,
too. He is knocking on your door right now. Let Him in.
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice,
and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup (dine)
with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20 KJV)
Blessings to you in Jesus Christ our Lord.

The purpose of all the preaching of the word of God in the church is to make every person complete in Christ (Col. 1:28). We are complete in Christ when every part of our being is filled with love for Christ. The first commandment that God gave to man was to love Him with all our heart, mind and strength, and with every part of our personality. However it was not possible in the Old Testament times to love like that because they could not know how much God loved them. They could also not understand that God's commandments were an expression of His love. It is parents who love their children who give them commandments to protect them from harm. Believers who have not seen God's heart of love find His commandments to be burdensome (1Jn. 5:3). The man with the one talent felt that his master was strict, and buried his talent in the earth. Such people spend the one life they have for earthly things.God's heart is grieved when He sees that His people do not see His heart of love. Those who are in fellowship with His heart are grieved when they see others do wrong. When they speak from the word of God, others can sense love, even if they are giving words of correction.
The Lord was outside the church in Laodicea even though they met in His name (Rev. 3:20). They felt they were doing quite well and did not see their need (v. 17). One thing we can see is the need to love Jesus more. It is when love for Him fills our heart that love for the world, pleasure, honour etc., gets pushed out of our heart. We cannot overcome our lusts without this expulsive power of the love for Jesus. If we do not love Jesus more than everything else in this world, we have missed the main thing, even if we have been attending meetings for years. Worldliness is not a matter of external behaviour but having something as being more important to us than Jesus. We love Him because He loved us first, when we were His enemies (1Jn. 4:19). If this does not move us now as it did at first, we have become insensitive like lepers.
There is a veil over the face of people who cannot see the glory of God in the face of Christ (2Cor. 4:3,4), and preaching should aim at tearing this veil and showing the glory of God to the others. We see how dependent we are for this on the Holy Spirit who alone can glorify Jesus (Jn. 16:14). When we see a vision of the love of God, all other things begin to fade away. Our heroes become those who sacrificed themselves in His service out of gratitude to Him. Then our ambition becomes only to live our life pleasing Him. Victory over sin is a fruit that comes from a life rooted in love for Jesus, and we cannot hope to have fruit without the roots being firmly fixed. We cannot be content with just thanking God for all His benefits, but we can make ourselves available to God to do whatever pleases Him (Rom. 12:1).
Jacob served Laban for seven years without pay to obtain Rachel as his wife (Gen. 29:18). Even after Laban cheated him by giving Him Leah instead of Rachel, Jacob served another seven years for Rachel. He served without complaint in the heat of the day and the frost of the night and it was the power of love that drove him. We see the nearest thing on earth to the love of God in a mother's love for her baby for whom she sacrifices sleep and comfort without any complaint. Love is strong and many rivers cannot quench it (Song 8:6,7). We must love God with such a love, and we must come back to our first love if we have lost it over the years. It may also be that some have never loved God like that in all their life.
The Father seeks those who worship Him in spirit and truth (Jn. 4:23). Worship is not a matter of words but a total surrender of our whole being to God (Rom. 12:1). It is only for those who love God that He causes all things to work for good (Rom. 8:28). He will look through the whole world to do good to those whose heart is completely His (2Chron. 16:9). Then we will also be the happiest people on earth.
NOTE: When you read this prayer, try to imagine hearing my voice as I
speak it to you. In this way, the prayer is reactivated, and it
the same as if I were actually praying for you at that moment.
(Just like television prayers are reactivated when you watch
them, although the videotape may have been shot years before.)
Perhaps you are a Christian even now,
You go to church and try to do your best,
You try to put His teachings in your life,
But still you do not feel that He is yours.
You do not feel the closeness that you crave.
If this is you, then say this prayer with me:
* * *
O Lord, I want you closer in my life,
I want you more to be a part of me.
I want the best relationship with you,
That anyone on earth could ever have.
I know that, "as we give, we shall receive,"
And so I now do give myself to you,
In full completeness, holding nothing back.
I'm yours, so you may use me as you will,
And take whatever things you want from me.
And now that I did give myself to you,
I pray that you will give yourself to me,
As bridegroom gives himself to his new bride.
In Jesus' holy name I pray, Amen.

Scriptural reference . . .
"I will bring them again also out of the land of Egypt, and gather them out of Assyria; and I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon; and place shall not be found for them. And he shall pass through the sea with affliction, and shall smite the waves in the sea, and all the deeps of the river shall dry up: and the pride of Assyria shall be brought down, and the sceptre of Egypt shall depart away. And I will strengthen them in the LORD; and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith the LORD." - Zechariah 10:10-12 (KJV)
DEEP RIVER - Classic American Spiritual Song - Anonymous, Public Domain
Deep river,
My home is over Jordan.
Deep river, Lord,
I want to cross over into campground.
O don't you want to go
To that gospel feast,
That promised land
Where all is peace?
O don't you want to go
To that promised land,
That land where all is peace?
Deep river,
My home is over Jordan.
Deep river, Lord,
I want to cross over into campground.
