BREATHE ON ME, BREATH OF GOD - by Edwin Hatch (1835-1889)
                                   Public Domain

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
           Fill me with life anew,
That I may love what Thou dost love,
And do what Thou wouldst do.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
           Until my heart is pure,
Until my will is one with Thine,
           To do and to endure.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
           Till I am wholly Thine,
Until this earthly part of me
           Glows with Thy fire divine.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
           So shall I never die,
But live with Thee the perfect life
           Of Thine eternity.

                           Amen.

Invocation

O Lord, we come together in Your name,
And as You promised, we know You are here.

AND SO WE WELCOME YOU WITH OPEN ARMS,

And share with us Your presence, openly,

The Lord, Himself, taught us to pray like this . . .

                     The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
            hallowed be thy Name,
            thy kingdom come,
            thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
          And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
            but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
            for ever and ever. Amen.

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY! - by Bishop Reginald Heber, 1827 - Public Domain

        Holy, holy, holy!
        Lord God Almighty!
        Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to Thee!
        Holy, holy holy!
        Merciful and mighty!
        God in Three Persons,
        Blessed Trinity!

        Holy, holy, holy!
        All the saints adore Thee!
        Casting down their golden crowns
        Around the glassy sea;
        Cherubim and seraphim
        Falling down before Thee,
        Who wert, and art, and
        Evermore shalt be.

        Holy, holy, holy!
        Though the darkness hide Thee!
Though the eye of sinful man
        Thy glory may not see;
        Only Thou art holy!
        There is none beside Thee,
        Perfect in pow'r in
        Love, and purity.

        Holy, holy, holy!
        Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name,
        In earth, and sky, and sea;
        Holy, holy holy!
        Merciful and mighty!
        God in Three Persons,
        Blessed Trinity!

              Amen.

Scriptures And Teachings

God Requires A Transfer Of Wealth From Rich To Poor

         _____________________________________________________________

"But if any one has the world's goods and sees his brother in need,
yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in
       him?" (1 John 3:17 RSV)

"Every one to whom much is given, of him will much be required;"
       (Luke 12:48b RSV)

       ---------------------------------------------------------------

       MATTHEW 25:31-46 (RSV)

                      The Sheep And The Goats

         _____________________________________________________________

        31
"When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the
angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.
        32
Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will
separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the
               sheep from the goats,
        33
and he will place the sheep at his right hand, but the
               goats at the left.
        34
Then the King will say to those at his right hand, 'Come,
O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for
               you from the foundation of the world;
        35
for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and
you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,
        36
I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited
me, I was in prison and you came to me.'
        37
Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see
thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink?
        38
And when did we see thee a stranger and welcome thee, or
               naked and clothe thee?
        39
And when did we see thee sick or in prison and visit
               thee?'
        40
And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as
you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you
               did it to me.'
        41
Then he will say to those at his left hand, 'Depart from
me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the
               devil and his angels;
        42
for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty
and you gave me no drink,
        43
I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you
did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not
               visit me.'
        44
Then they also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see thee
hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in
prison, and did not minister to thee?'
        45
Then he will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did
it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to
               me.'
        46
And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the
               righteous into eternal life."
         _____________________________________________________________

"Yes," some people might say. "But doesn't Jesus say that the poor shall always be with us? Doesn't this mean that there is really nothing we are required to do about the poor people?"

"No," I reply. "You misunderstand the meaning of those words. Jesus is telling the women that He will not be with them very much longer, so therefore they should give their full attention to Him now, while He is at their house with them. They can help the poor people anytime after that."

Prayer For You

So Do Not Hide Your Light Beneath A Barrel

MP3 Audio File at http://www.internetchurchofchrist.org/donothideyourlight.mp3
Reading by Rev. Bill McGinnis, Free, Public Domain.

NOTE: When you read this prayer, try to imagine hearing my voice as I
speak it to you. In this way, the prayer is reactivated, and it
the same as if I were actually praying for you at that moment.
(Just like television prayers are reactivated when you watch
them, although the videotape may have been shot years before.)

So Do Not Hide Your Light Beneath A Barrel

The Lord has given many gifts to you,
No matter what your station is in life,
And He expects that you will use them well,
Not only for advantage to yourself,
But also to advance His holy work,
So others see the good that He has done,
And they can come to know Him as have you.
So do not hide your light beneath a barrel!
When you do something good, let it be seen,
And give the Lord all credit for success,
For by His hand all blessings are bestowed,
To you, His trusted agent in this world.
In Jesus' name I pray for you, Amen.

DO YOU KNOW JESUS? - by Rev. Bill McGinnis, 1995 - Public Domain

      Do you know Jesus?
      Do you know Jesus?
      Do you know Jesus,
And the wonder of His love?

      Yes, I know Jesus!
      Yes, I know Jesus!
      Yes, I know Jesus,
And the wonder of His love!

Benediction

As we complete our worship service today, I leave you with this blessing . . .

       EPHESIANS 3:14-21 (KJV)

        14
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord
               Jesus Christ,
        15
Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
        16
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his
glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the
               inner man;
        17
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye,
being rooted and grounded in love,
        18
May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the
               breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
        19
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge,
that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
        20
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above
all that we ask or think, according to the power that
               worketh in us,
        21
Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout
all ages, world without end. Amen.
